GALLERY ZEROでは、2026年7月11日土曜日より8月1日土曜日までの3週間の日程で、荒川朋子の個展 “ 物語の前景：Foreground of a Story ” を開催致します。

「荒川朋子のステイトメント」

私たちは風景を見るとき、しばしばそこに意味を見出し、記憶や感情を重ねていく。空の色は気分と結びつき、道の先には出来事を想像し、光の変化に時間の気配を読む。世界はそのように語られ、ときに生を豊かにする。

しかし、風景は本来、私たちに語りかける以前に、すでにそこにある。そこには人の解釈とは無関係に、光があり、奥行きがあり、かたちがあり、もの同士の関係がある。意味づけられる以前に、ただそこに秩序がある。

夜明け前、青く満ちた空の下を歩いていると、明るい月の先に見覚えのある場所があった。屋根の三角、壁の四角、月の丸い光。その配置は、先に描いていた画面と静かに重なった。

描かれるのは特定の出来事ではなく、見ることによって立ち上がる世界そのものである。

タイトルの「前景」は、風景画における手前の領域を指すと同時に、私の目の前に現れた風景そのものを指している。すでにそこに見えているもの。言葉になる前に、感情へ回収される前に、目の前に広がっている世界。

絵画は、私が知覚している世界に触れるための方法である。物語の手前にひらかれている風景、その内にある美しさ、そして絵画と風景の距離について思索しながら、私は描いている。

GALLERY ZERO is pleased to announce “Tomoko Arakawa: Foreground of a Story,” the artist’s third solo exhibition at our gallery. [1] The exhibition will run for three weeks, from Saturday, June 27 to Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Artist’s Statement by Tomoko Arakawa

When we look at a landscape, we often find meaning in it, layering it with our memories and emotions.The color of the sky connects to our mood, the path ahead makes us imagine events, and the shifting light carries the breath of time. The world is narrated in this way, sometimes enriching our lives.

Yet, before a landscape ever speaks to us, it is simply already there. Independent of human interpretation, there is light, depth, form, and relationships between objects.

Before any meaning is assigned, a certain order simply exists.

Before dawn, as I walked under a sky filled with blue, I found a familiar place beyond the bright moon.The triangle of a roof, the square of a wall, the round light of the moon. Their arrangement quietly overlapped with a canvas I had been painting beforehand.

What I paint is not a specific event, but the very world that emerges through the act of seeing.

The "foreground" in the title refers to the front area of a landscape painting, but at the same time, it points to the actual scenery appearing right before my eyes. That which is already visible there. The world stretching out in front of me before it turns into words, and before it is captured by emotion.

Painting is my way of touching the world I perceive. I paint while contemplating the landscape that opens up before the story begins, the beauty within it, and the distance between painting and landscape.

第1回　「mo-so-kai ①　『BL』という名の妄想を語る会」のご案内　　終了いたしました。

GALLERY ZEROでは、2月21日土曜日、午後5時より第一回の mo-so-kai を開催いたします。

ご存知のように日本発の漫画やアニメは既に世界で認知・評価されています。その1ジャンルである「BL」もまた、日本で芽生え進化しながら世界にその影響を広げている、そんな事を昨年初めて知りました。その未知の世界への道案内を、女流義太夫の豊竹呂秀さんに務めて頂きます。とは言いましても当方もBLに関しましては全くの素人ですので、推しなどを語り合うことはできません。それよりも「BL」を通して日本や海外の文化の歴史や状況、加えて美術はどうなのかも含めてお話しできたらと思っています。目にもとめなかったものから不意に新たな扉が開かれる。私も、BL作品ではないですが、BLというジャンルが内包する歴史や状況から妄想を膨らませています。ご参加のほど、よろしくお願い致します。

GALLERY ZERO is pleased to announce the first mo-so-kai, to be held on Saturday, February 21st, starting at 5:00 PM.

As you may know, Japanese manga and anime have already gained global recognition and acclaim. Last year, I discovered that BL (Boys' Love)―a specific genre within this culture―has also blossomed and evolved in Japan, spreading its influence worldwide.

To guide us through this unfamiliar territory, we have invited Rosyu Toyotake, a practitioner of female Gidayu (traditional puppet lyricism).

That said, as we are complete novices regarding BL, we won't be diving into "fandom" talk or discussing our favorite characters. Instead, we hope to use BL as a lens to discuss the history and current state of culture both in Japan and abroad, including its intersection with the world of fine art.

Sometimes, a new door swings open from the most unexpected places. Even for those of us not directly familiar with the works themselves, the history and context surrounding the BL genre can spark a wealth of imagination.

mo-so-kai ①　『BL』という名の妄想を語る会

日本で生まれ、今や世界の様々なエンタメ形態で日々新作が大量創作される人気の物語概念となった『BL』（ボーイズラブ）。

当初は名もなき花として日陰で咲いていた『BL』という物語フレームが、なぜここまで熱狂的に表立って共有され消費されるようになったのか。

そんな疑問を出発点にしながら、『BL』妄想について語り合う第一歩にしたいと思っています。

妄想主　豊竹呂秀（女流義太夫）

萩尾望都『トーマの心臓』にて目覚め、「い・け・な・いルージュマジック」のMVでの坂本龍一と忌野清志郎とのキスシーンに天啓を得、『JUNE』愛読者として10代を過ごした後、数十年はBLを封印。

が、昨年その封印を解き放ち、全くの初心者として現在のBLカンブリア紀を楽しんでいる。

BLファン歴は長いようで短いため、新鮮な気持ちで妄想を語ります。

黒木杏紀展評「西太志個展 “ 遠くで降る雨 ”」

美術ライターの黒木杏紀さんが、6月14日（土）ー　7月12日（土）まで開催していました西太志個展 “ 遠くで降る雨 ” に関して、とても深く読み込んだ展評を書いて頂けました。個人的には、「その神話は教訓を語らず、むしろ問いを投げかける。この開かれた構造こそが、鑑賞者を単なる傍観者から、物語を紡ぐ当事者へと変える力を持つ」という文章が、心に残っています。

紡いで頂いた言葉を糧に、進んでいこうと思っています！ありがとうございます。

Takeshi Hosaka's solo show will be held at See Saw gallery + hibit in Nagoya.
